Greyhound Trader are back for 2023 and are hoping to start with a bang in their first Online Auction which contains 18 talented greyhounds available to bid on.

James Corden of Greyhound Trader said ‘After the success of the Online Auctions in 2022 and the high interest from both vendors and buyers, it was a no brainer to start them up again in 2023 as soon as we could. We will plan to hold one Online Auction and one Track sale each month and if I can get entries like this week’s each time then I am sure we will do well.’

James continues ‘We are delighted to be able to offer UNLOCKED for the Matthews family, a daughter of the amazing Pestana x Unlock Unlock litter. She looks an incredibly exciting bitch for someone looking for an open class bitch who they can then take to the breeding paddocks. Another for the breeding paddocks in Ballymac Only, being a daughter of what could we argued the best broodbitch in Ireland Coolavanny Pet.

A couple of dogs to keep an eye on is firstly the exciting Ballymac Shay who, off his first mark, looks a future AA0 performer and then Jacktavern Hero who will surely attract the interest from those keen on an open class stayer to take to the competitions in the UK.

UNLOCKED – January 2021 youngster with breeding to die for being a daughter of the superstar Pestana and out of the sensational Unlock Unlock who has now well proven herself not just a star on the track but a producer of greyhounds of the highest class in the breeding paddocks. Full sister Undulation has already scorched around Shelbourne Park in 2824 when destroying top grade opposition at HQ and has since recorded 2920 around Towcester in the semi-final of the English Puppy Derby. Another sister from the all-girl litter to Pestana 2805 on the card at HQ whilst another in Up The Style backed up the promise shown when reaching the final of the RPGTV Puppy Oaks by landing semi-final and final of the I.G.O.B.F National Puppy 525 Final at Shelbourne Park early in December. This really is a litter of the highest class and with ‘Lucky’ also having very realistic prospects of becoming a champion brood herself in the years to come she is sure to attract the attention of all those with a keen eye on class.

BALLYMAC SHAY – unraced September 2021 dog pup who looks a top-class prospect for many years to come. Breeding doesn’t get any better than this being a son Ballymac Cashout and Shelbourne Park’s fastest ever bitch Ballymac Arminta. Well-built at 72lb, Shay impressed all in attendance in his sole trial to date back in October when he won his 2-dog trial by 9 lengths in a rapid time of 2915. To do this time as a 13-month-old baby is just sensational and so for those looking to buy a puppy for 2023, Shay is your man.

BALLYMAC ONLY – unraced October 2021 bitch pup who was the sole pup (hence the name) in the last litter of wonder brood Coolavanny Pet to new stud sensation Ballymac Cashout. Showing lots of greenness in her only trial to date when recording 3020, there is plenty of improvement undoubtedly expected and this is a bitch worth taking a chance on. Whilst racing will be her first immediate thought, this is a bitch who is worth her gold as a breeding prospect alone. A half-sister to Pestana and Oaks winner Ballymac Beanie, any serious breeder will be sure to recoup their investment from probably just her first litter of pups, making her a great long-term purchase.

JACKTAVERN HERO – May 2021 dog pup who has an open class career ahead of him over both tough six and eight bend distances. Stays forever and has a great will to win as demonstrated when coming through strongly in just the second start of his life despite crowding throughout to win in 2929 around Cork. Backed up the staying potential shown in that outing when finishing runner up over 750 yards at the same venue and was then prepared for the 1025-yard race at Shelbourne Park on the first night of the Winter Festival recently. Despite this being just the fourth competitive start of his career and his very young age, he ran with huge promise to finish second to Fire Height Mane beaten just 3 ½ lengths. Bred to be special over a trip and given that he counts 2021 Stayer Of The Year Dana Point amongst his half siblings it will be no surprise at all if he was to fulfil that promise in no uncertain terms.

AIRPORT FLYING – A winner of 6 races from 13, including winning the Fair Warrior competition at Mullingar, this is a dog of top-class ability that will be ready to make a name for himself in the UK if being sold. Consistently producing SS0 clocks at Mullingar over 400y, as well as at Dundalk in his only race there, this is a dog that would make into both a perfect Friday night Romford dog or and Oxford competitor ahead of the Pall Mall in July. Finishing 3rd in the Night of Stars sprint at Shelbourne Park just last week, he has also won over 525 at the same venue in 2882 and looks to be a versatile competition dog for someone looking for a dog that loves to win.

GLENGAR MORTY – unraced July 2021 brindle dog pup who weighed in at 72lb when clocking a sensational 2919 when running out a wide margin winner of the only trial on his card to date around Tralee. A son of Killinan Rosie who was a stunning winner of the 2017 running of The Race of Champions around Tralee and has since gone on to prove herself a producer of open class offspring in the breeding paddocks. A stunning looking youngster who looks sure to make open class here in the UK who has been reared and schooled to absolute perfection.

BALLINABOLA BEAR – A lightly raced July 2021 son of Pestana and Ballinabola Mia who opened his career in a competitive ON1 stake at Enniscorthy where he showed great staying power to qualify through to the semi-finals. He came back to Enniscorthy just two weeks later and was beaten only a short head in 2893 but made amends for this the week after where he got himself into a good position and made six lengths up down the back straight to win by an impressive two and a half lengths in 28.87! Puppies who can consistently break 2900 at Enniscorthy are hard to come by and this lad looks to have a big future ahead of him over numerous different distances, whilst he is still eligible for the upcoming Puppy competitions in the UK.

BALLYMAC MOYA – unraced November 2021 bitch who won her sole trial to date by a huge 8 lengths in 2963. In her trial, Moya was glued to the rail and ran like a race-ready professional, showing massive pace turning round the last bend. This was no surprise to her connections with the sensational Ballymac Whispa being her older half-sister. The pairs dam Ballymac Minton is bred from the famed Badminton Girl line, and this leaves Moya as a fantastic breeding prospect at the end of her racing career too.

SALMA ALMA (ex – Anynews Jo) – April 2021 bitch pup who has run just 4 times but has broken the magic 2900 barrier on two occasions already. Possessing great early pace, as shown with her incredible 1877 official sprint trial at Enniscorthy, this 62lb blue bitch won her first race at Limerick on the 3rd time of asking in a good 2903 when showing great courage and track-craft to pick up the leader at the 3rd bend. Alma has most recently trialled at the same venue in 2885 and will no doubt make into an exciting open class proposition in the UK and is an ideal candidate for the upcoming Newcastle and Monmore Puppy Derby’s.

BALLINABOLA ELSA – June 2021 bitch pup who was a winner of her very first two starts in Ireland including an impressive 2884 win at Enniscorthy. Only handy at 54lb, Elsa has been crying out for a rail seeding in all 4 of her starts in Ireland but has often been shoved out of contention due to her stature and size when trying to get across. Once hitting the front, this is a lady who will be hard to catch and is an exciting young talent who will be ready to compete within the open class racing scene in the UK.

SCARTY ELECTRIC – April 2021 bitch pup with huge early gears and a massive will to win as was demonstrated on career debut, and so far the only competitive start on her card, when winning around Tralee in 2934. A daughter of Bull Run Bolt and Lisnaboy Scolari who is a proven producer of top grade and open class offspring including the likes of Coom Leo who clocked a fantastic 2936 when winning The Irish Focus Standard Invitation on English Derby semi-final night off the back of a quick 412 split and followed that up when winning on English Derby Final night itself when roaring to the line first time in 409. Super bred lady who is sure to win plenty with both her early pace and will to win unquestionable. Also, a very interesting proposition for the breeding paddocks later in life.

BALLYMAC LOCA – unraced November 2021 bitch who is doing all the right things at home and should make into a lovely racing prospect. Loca has just one trial to her name where she beat her kennelmate by a resounding 6 lengths in 2974. Her mother Vida Loca is as well-bred as they come being by Brett Lee and Yahoo Perlena, making her an older half-sister to arguably the UK’s fastest dog at present time Coolavanny Shado.

BALLYMAC BENZO – unraced November 2021 dog who is from the first litter of one of Liam Dowlings fastest dogs you never heard of Ballymac Runner. A full brother to Ballymac Ariel, whilst Runner’s card doesn’t look sparkling, it is hard not to notice the 1871 Shelbourne Park sprint before he ever raced and therein lies the question what could’ve been? His enormous pace however is now being passed on to a new generation and Benzo won’t create any bad publicity from his 2980 first mark at Tralee.

PIERCESTOWN DATE – February 2021 brindle bitch who is bred by the Shelbourne Park record-holder Pestana and proven producer Piercestown Moll. Whilst not showing perhaps possessing a great race record, she has previously stopped the clock officially at Enniscorthy in 2929 off a mediocre 336 split. Like her siblings, Date would be well suited to the stronger distances in graded class and may even turn into a 6-bend bitch in the future.

CORGRIGG TOBBEN – August 2020 dog who is ready to continue his racing career straight away having scored on his last outing at Limerick in 2940. In this race he showed nice early pace and steered a wide course on route to victory. A dog that starts and stays and is consistent, he will turn into a valuable asset for any graded kennel.

GRIMBOT LUCKY – August 2021 bitch pup by Ballymac Best and out of Roeview Darlene without single mark on her card but has been fully schooled and is ready to go. Absolutely keen as mustard and showing plenty of potential. Darlene thew winners in her maiden litter to Pat C Sabbath and this litter look even better.

MOCHONOG MAGIC (ex – Bejayaah) – total professional who is a 3-time winner, 7-time runner up from just 17 career starts. Nice touch of early pace and will win high grade races here in the UK over both two and four bends. This dog is ready to get straight into work and looks an ideal type to land new connections a nice touch or two.

SALUTE – unraced May 2021 son of Ballymac Kingdom and Mountcoal Bridie who has no mark on his card currently but is set to trial at Shelbourne Park on Saturday night before racing. With a good run expected, you can be sure that there is still plenty of time to find from the lightly schooled dog who’s pedigree goes back to the very best breeding lines.
