Grangeview Ten was easily the fastest winner in the heats of the Irish Laurels over 525 yards at Cork on Saturday.
Pat Guilfoyle’s Produce Stakes winner soon had his rivals at full stretch after clocking a flying 3.22sec split and went on to beat Allaghaun River by five lengths in 28.00sec.
Rockybay Foley got his title defence off to a winning start in heat five. Kieran Lynch’s runner flew out and made all to beat Easter Cup winner Clona Blaze by two lengths in 28.32sec.
Blaze’s trainer Graham Holland was on the score-sheet with Newinn Lester in heat two who led off the penultimate turn to beat Springwood Vardy by a length and a half in 28.46sec.
Last year’s Derby winner Ballyanne Sim was impressive in the ninth qualifier when leading from trap to line to beat Ballymac Anton by five lengths in 28.19sec.
Gerry Holian’s Doona Buck led at the opening turn in the following heat to repel Joey I said by a length in 28.11sec.
Moonbeg Bakayoko was soon clear in heat one to beat Uncle Wexford by four and a half lengths in 28.48sec.
Other winners were Scart Jim (28.54sec), Skywalker Wonder (28.72sec), Coconut Comrades )28.41sec), Catunda Logan (28.46sec), Sure Look Listen (28.38sec) and Arclight Rumble with 28.43sec.
