Monmore Racing Manager Craig Gardiner is anticipating a large crowd for Monmore’s biggest night of the year featuring the finals of their two Cat One events, the Ladbrokes sponsored Gold Cup and Stayers Classic.

He said: “The restaurant is full booked and with the weather we are expecting and two big race finals on the card, I am expecting a big crowd for a special night.”

The 11 race card features eight open races though most attention will naturally focus on the two £10K finals. Here is Craig’s take on them both.

“Whoever leads wins! So that would have to put the two contenders as being Warzone Tom and Coppice Brewer. But it is far from a two dog race. I will be interested to see how Darbys Delight goes from trap one after being drawn in the two and three boxes previously. Amaze Me Seb is also a tremendously fast dog but just so clumsy. If he was to get a clear run I have no doubt that he would break 38.00.”

“The Gold Cup Final should see an early pace battle between Move Over Cha and Innfield Trojan though Cha seems to have the plum draw. Whats Up Eva and Signet Otis would probably prefer to be closer to the fence but if there is crowding, and you couldn’t rule it out, I would expect a big run from Annadown King who is capable of missing any trouble and getting a clear run on the outside.”
