The Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB) is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Racing Operations Executive.
Scott Harvey, previously Race Programme Controller for the Bookmakers’ Afternoon Greyhound Services (BAGS), joins the GBGB having spent the last four years working in government communications. He has vast experience in media, having edited two newspapers in Ireland, and has worked on national newspapers in Ireland and the UK, including The Guardian, Daily Mail and Racing Post.
During his time at BAGS, Scott helped broker the deal to rescue Sky Sports greyhound coverage, onboarded live streaming and organised the sport’s annual Track Championship. In this newly created role, he will oversee the racing calendar and GBGB’s social media and will act as Secretary to the Racing Committee.
Welcoming Scott to the role, Mark Bird, GBGB Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are delighted to have Scott join the GBGB team. His background within the sport as well as his experience within other sectors meant that he was a natural fit for this new and exciting position. I know that Scott is keen to work with stakeholders to help provide the very best racing outlook for the sport.”
Commenting on his appointment, Scott, said: “I have spent a fascinating four years working on government communications and acting as Press Secretary to ministers. I am delighted to be returning to greyhound racing within the GBGB, where I am confident my government perspective will be of value as we build a sustainable future for the sport.
“We all have a part to play in shaping the future of greyhound racing, and I am much looking forward to renewing old acquaintances with owners, trainers and the tracks who together make this sport great.”
