The immediate future of the Scurry Cup has been secured by Belle Vue owner Chris Garwood, a director of the Bapp Group of Companies, who have stepped in to replace last year’s backers, Stan James.

The first prize in the 260-metre competition will again be £2,500 and the first round will be contested on Saturday, October 3, with the semi-finals a week later and the decider on Saturday, October 17.

Garwood is a member of the Then There Were Five Syndicate, who own trainer John Walton’s top sprinter Flashing Bolt, third behind Baliff Cairo and Skate On in last year’s final.
