ROMFORD’s Friday night card proved something of a carve up with three trainers sending out 12 of the 14 winners.
They included a six-timer for Paul Young – three graded, three opens, plus open race trebles for Patrick Janssens and Mark Wallis (obviously!).
Two of the three Wallis runners appear more often on the racecard than steak does on the menu.
Roswell Romanov (Quail Hollow-Kranky Leona, Aug 14) took the night’s most lucrative event, the £500 stayers final. Contesting his 31st race over course and distance, the 4-9f led early and clocked 35.17 for win 22.
Over the four bends, the tenacious Clondoty Alex (Razldazl Jayfkay-Castlehill Alex, May 13) reminded punters that there is more to his game than ‘Al led’. In a terrific buckle with Rising Rascal, the veteran scraped home by a short head in 24.16 – win number 14 from 23 for the year.
Maiden winner Parkers Dynamite (Kinloch Brae-Toms Delight, Apr 15) completed the Wallis treble.
In this week’s Robs Romford Round-up, Wallis’ former assistant trainer Patrick Janssens predicted Barricane Tommy (Ballymac Eske-Mrs Bouquet, Jan 15) could be “very very good” over the maiden stayers course and so it proved. Drawn red, the 2-5f clocked an impressive 34.93 with a near six length victory.
Tommy proved the banker in a Barricane treble for the kennel with 2-1f Barricane Jagger (Sparta Maestro-Affane Katie, Jun 15) landing the other heat of the same competition in 35.41 and puppy Barricane Carina (Superior Product-Arsenal Lady, May 15) winning a standard in 24.10 (+20).
Puppy Young Lord (Loughteen Blanco-Droopys Force, Sep 15) was the pick of Paul Young’s 22 runners on the night when clocking a FON 23.81 (+20) in a 400 standard.
