Three of the fastest four heat winners meet in the same ‘two to qualify’ semi final of the 70th Breeders Produce Stakes at Swindon on Monday.

All the big names came through the second round on Monday and none more impressive than Angie Kibble’s striped jacketed Coolavanny Hawk (Coolavanny Bert-Lottes Girl, Jul 14) who justified odds of 2-9f when beating stayer Meadow (T2) by nearly seven lengths in 28.47 (N).

2-7 favourite Castell Henry (Kinlooch Brae-Tyrur Alice Apr 14) who drew red again has been the height of consistency and second straight 28.48 (N) win when seeing off Lowgate Hagrid (T3) in the second round.

Hawk and Henry meet again in the semis where they are joined by Henry’s litter brother Bang On Giles (T1 6-4) who improved a couple of lengths to beat Banha Rooskey (T3) by half a length in 28.66.

The trio will be joined in their qualifier by a fourth heat winner, the blue jacketed Lotachoice (Kinloch Brae-Freedom Emma, Oct 14). Richard Yeates’ 4-5f  beat Whatugonnado (T1), by a length and a bit in 28.93.

Whatugonnado’s litter brother, the red jacketed 4-7f Badabing (Kinloch Brae-Ardrine Lunar, Jul 14) was third quickest on the night with a 28.54, near six lengths win over Lowgate Belatrix (T3 7-1).

The biggest shock of the night was the defeat of 4-7f Blissful Scolari who scraped through in third place behind kennelmate Fearsome Phantom (Westmead Hawk-Hesley Hawaii, May 14) who beat Coolrus Patch by a couple in 28.88.
