Brighton Greyhound Owners held their Annual Awards on Saturday evening 18 March 2017.  The event was attended by approx 60 owners and kennel staff.  There were seven categories.

DOG OF THE YEAR GUINNESS FOUR Won 7 high graded races plus won an intertrack and was very consistent throughout 2016
BITCH OF THE YEAR BANABANE  Won 9 graded (incl 5 Al’s) the Brighton Belle and Opens at Hove, Wimbledon and Romford
BEST 285 GRADED SPIDERMAN Won 13 graded sprints and won this category easily
BEST 515 GRADED Joint Winners Brickhill Jacksy and Cutters Impact wno both won  l3 graded wins during 2016
MOST IMPROVED GRADER  Mallogs Nina Went from A11 to A2, an impressive amount of improvement.
Runner Up Dusko Popov went from A8 to A1 before embarking on successful open race foray
VETERAN OF THE YEAR  Gingers Lallana Won 11 Races during 2016

KENNELHAND OF THE YEAR – JOINT WINNERS
Lee Pearce A long time and loyal kennelhand to Maria Collins
Carl Gardiner, a young man who is a hard worker and has great connection with the dogs

TRAINERS AWARDS
A new category was introduced this year whereby the trainers nominated a dog from their kennel for a special mention and award
Wayne Wrighting – ALIST KATTRINA. consistency and improvement
Richard Rees – FREE PASSAGE 5 wins and a dog on the upgrade
Doreen Walsh –  MALLOGS NINA Gone from A11 to A1 and unlucky not to pick up an open win
Claude Gardiner – WATCH ME WIGGLE Came back from massive injury to win 9 more races and never let the kennel down.
Maria Collins – SWIFT KIDMAN Top Class at Hove and finalist in two Brighton Belles
Derek Knight – MAIREADS IVY Started in A9 worked up the grades and has now proved herself a top marathon bitch
Tony Taylor – ROCKET SHOT Started mid-grade went on to A1 and won maiden open.
