Jo Jo Fantasy can emerge successful from the hottest second round heat in the Comerford Cakes Open 525 at Shelbourne Park on Saturday.
Graham Holland’s runner is in good form having won three of his last four races including an Open Final at Limerick in 28.52sec.
Last week he finished strongly to deny Borna Sounds by in 28.37sec and is expected to account for main threats Drumcrow Kaiser and Toolmaker Scot.
Drumcrow Kaiser improved from his previous best of 28.50sec by clocking the fastest time in the first round of 28.33sec but this is harder.
Robert Gleeson’s Toolmaker Scot has a 28.31sec on his card but is better drawn on the fence and only just got qualified from last week from a similarly poor draw.
Ante-post favourite Jaytee Dutch can regain winning ways in heat four.
Trap one will suit Paul Hennessy’s Juvenile Derby third better than trap six did last week which saw him leave plenty of times on the track due to traffic problems.
Munster Juvenile Cup third Razldazl Rince, who scored in 28.46sec last week, looks the biggest threat.
Anthony Mullins’ Creamery Bale can take the opening qualifier. He was caught last week by a flying Drumcrow Kaiser but should hold too many guns here.
Owen McKenna’s Farloe Joey, a 28.59sec race winner over C&D, can follow him home.
Milldean Puma is fancied to land the third eliminator.
Peter Cronin’s dog came from behind to beat Airport Turbo in 28.72sec but did produce a 28.18sec last month and can again see off Airport Turbo and fast Tralee winner Madabout Marco.
Juvenile Derby winner Anopheles is fancied in heat four.
Liam Dowling’s dog was surprisingly beaten in the first round, which saw wide seeds favoured and can reverse the form with re-opposing Philiblue.
Jaytee Pharaoh is the other danger. He took the scalp of subsequent St Leger winner Skywalker Rory over the 550 yards course in the summer.
The early paced Borna Sounds can take the last qualifier.
Ruari Dwan’s was only just picked up by 28.37sec winner Jo Jo Fantasy last week and can again fly out and stay on better.
Thinly Veiled, a 28.46sec winner over C&D and Juvenile Derby finalist Black Alder are the main threats.
