Kim Billingham’s Chaotic Lynda is causing a bit of chaos in the ECC Timber Oaks writes John Forbes.

The bitch caused an upset when she ran out an 8-1 winner in the first round and she showed that it was no fluke in round two at Belle Vue on Friday.

Punters clearly weren’t expecting an encore as she was sent off a 5-1 chance, but she clocked the fastest time of the round with a 28.54 on -90 going in beating the favourite Swift Champagne by half a length.

Mark Keightley, husband of trainer Hayley, had expressed concerns about Roxholme Twilight’s fitness, the bitch being only eleven weeks out of season and, unfortunately, he was proved right in the second heat where she finished fourth.

Victory went to Alma Chic, who took control on the run to the initial corner and kept going to defeat Patjennaholy by a length and threequarters in 28.69.

With the first two qualifying for the semis, champion trainer Mark Wallis knew that he had to lose one of his hopefuls when three were drawn together in heat three and it was last year’s finalist Evanta Evita who lost out.

Her kennelmates Aero Babooshka and Domino Storm had the upper hand on the run to the line, Aero Babooshka taking the call by a length in 28.67.

Tyrur Caroline, a comfortable first round winner over Roxholme Hottie for trainer Charlie Lister and race sponsor PJ Fahy, gave a repeat performance in heat four of round two as she quickly moved into the lead and maintained a strong gallop all the way to the line where she was three and a quarter lengths clear in 28.61 for the 470 metres on -90 going.

Fahy’s Tyrur Supermac had been installed favourite for the Laurels on the back of a couple of highly promising trials in Manchester and he made the perfect start to the competition with a runaway seven and a quarter-length victory over Allowdale Blue in 28.31, with Rock Me Kewell in third.

Trainer Charlie Lister also landed heat five with Stay Loose, who made all to defeat On Alert and Ballymac Ricky in 28.37, while there was a double for the Keightley kennel as well with Roxholme Barkley setting the standard in heat one with a 28.27 in coming home ahead of Hillcroft Hero and Rhoden Patch, and Roxholme Scolari, a comfortable winner from Johns Present and Crooks Emporio in 28.34.

Millwards Whitey stole a march on his rivals in heat two and stormed home a five and a quarter-length winner from Coolavanny Rebel in 28.31, with Blakes Turbo in third, in 28.31, while the round concluded with a winner for the Wallis team, Blue Moment taking the verdict from Taranis Bolt and Droopys Novak in 28.66.
