This is what we got

And this was the reason for it

“According to GBGB figures there were 14,095 active greyhounds in 2014. The Greyhound Forum which represents eight major dog charities estimate that 3,700 of a total 9,000 greyhound go ‘unaccounted’ for each year. The Retired Greyhound Trust (RGT) expects to home over 4,000 greyhounds in 2015 and is by far the largest actor in the market, with other charities accounting for around 1,500. We do not have official data on the number of greyhounds rehomed each year.”

WHAT AN ABSOLUTE BLOODY DISGRACE!!

Everybody associated with the EFRA report should hang their heads in shame – including the GBGB for not challenging this absolute crap.

How about this for a slant – Greyhound racing has no evidence that all the MPs on the EFRA committee did not fiddle their expenses!

No we haven’t looked or checked anything out. We could probably check through various registers. To be honest, I doubt any of them did – embezzle I mean. In fact, I would be certain that nobody fiddled a single penny – but without the evidence how could I make those claims?

Did anybody on the EFRA committee ask why so many greyhound trainers are struggling? Did it occur to them that in many kennels, retired greyhounds take up half the spaces? I don’t think I know of a trainer who doesn’t have retired dogs. What of the owners? Did anybody ask what happens 99%+ percent of owner trained racers when they slip seamlessly into being family pets? Maybe they should have been informed by this amazing Greyhound Forum. Or maybe the Forum didn’t do their research either. Or maybe it didn’t suit their agenda.

There are literally tens of thousands of “missing” greyhounds currently laying on their beds. The fact that the GBGB can’t give those figures to the EFRA committee is because we don’t live in a police state. Yes, an owner may choose to fill in the retirement form (didn’t see any mention of green forms in this tax-payer funded review). Or if he no longer wishes to own greyhounds – he might just tell the GBGB where to stick their form. It is not a legal requirement, nor will it ever be, that an owner has to account for the whereabouts of his dog, greyhound or mongrel.

I realise that the GBGB might be silently smug that the off-course layers are under pressure for financially shafting our industry – but when it is all over – the only thing that Mr & Mrs Public will remember is that 3,700 greyhound each year ‘are probably put to sleep’.
