Eden The Kid has broken a hock following a solo trial at Wimbledon. Liz McNair’s runner clocked a very smart 16.22 (-05) but went lame at the pick up.

Rab McNair said: “It is all over. He has damaged a ligament connected to the hock. It will take three month to heal, but he will never race again. His first litter of seven dogs and a bitch out of Skate On are about three weeks old so we know he is fertile. I don’t know where he will go to stud, it won’t be my decision, but it isn’t ideal having a stud dog in a racing kennel.”

The winner of the 2015 British Breeders Stakes and third in that year’s English Derby, the son of Westmead Hawk famously began his career in graded company at Newcastle and broke the Wimbledon 480m track record with a 27.95 run. He has been unlucky with injury and his total career lasted just 32 races.
