Sizzlers Eagle justified favouritism in the final of the Coral 475 at Hove on Thursday. Norah McEllistrim’s 4-5 shot was led to the third turn by Southfield Noir but went on to score by a length and a half in 27.64sec.
The Coral Maiden Sprint Final over 285 metres went to Dawsons Waft. Maxine Locke’s runner took advantage of his red jacket draw in a trouble marred race to beat Brother Harry by almost four lengths in 16.53sec.
Wayne Wrighting’s Dunquin Lodge went quickest in the Coral Maiden 475 heats when leading off the second turn to hold Millwards Steve by three quarters in 28.00sec.
Maxine Locke’s Alfjack came late in heat two to deny long-time leader Numero Oonah by a length and a half in 28.08sec.
Jason Heath won both heats of the Coral Sprint over 285 metres with Swift Merlot and Boom Boom Hero. Merlot got the better of a battle with Aimnfire in heat one by a head in 16.56sec, while Boom Boom Hero got up close home to in heat two to deny Young Tyrur by three quarters in 16.53sec.
Millwards Teddy clocked the fastest time of the night in a pre-meeting trials session. Dean Childs’ champion stayer clocked 30.04 (-30), faster than all the 515m opens and fellow trialists which included Fabulous Expert (30.21)
