Bernie Doyle was prompted by fate to land a training contract at Romford, which was confirmed earlier today.
He said: “I saw the story in the Racing Post that the Mayor was going to refer the Wimbledon decision back to Merton Council and on the same day, there was an advertisement for a new trainer at Romford. I decided it was time to do something about it. I applied for a job there many years ago but not since I have been at Wimbledon where I started 14 years ago.”
From a Scottish racing family, Bernie took out his license at Milton Keynes in 1988 and has since enjoyed spells at Oxford and Reading.
He said: “I will serve a month’s notice at Wimbledon and have around 30 dogs available including eight A1 runners. I am still contacting the owners with the news and so far they are all delighted.”
