Calzaghe Vet launched the chase for this year’s RPGTV Scottish Derby with a good performance in the first trial stakes for the competition at Shawfield on Saturday.
The son of Head Bound produced the strongest finish to get home half a length clear of the favourite Greenwell Lark in 29.40 for the 480 metres on going rated 20 spots fast.
The Glasgow racecourse will continue the build-up to the competition proper with another Trial Stakes on next Saturday’s card.
