The connections of four greyhounds eliminated from the William Hill Derby in this week’s first round have already put their disappointment behind them and will be off chasing the Sheffield prizemoney on Tuesday.
Charlie Lister’s Golden Apple, who missed out in heat nine of opening night, will be lining up in the first of the bitches’ races; Deanridge Smurf from Lisa Stephenson’s kennel and the Darren Golightly-trained Outdoor Rumble, who both found heat 13 on Thursday unlucky, will be in opposition again in the second open on the card confined to maidens; and Burnfoot Alpha, pipped for a place in the second round in Wednesday’s last qualifier, has been entered for the Standard by Lisa Stephenson.
