If the Hall Green Greyhound of the Year trophy was decided at the half yearly stage, it would be a toss of the coin between Toystory Jenny and Its Mine.
Toystory Jenny (Quail Hollow-Chubbys Cancuin, Jun 14) began the year in A6 for Derek Davy but nine wins in 19 races have seen the wide running black go on to polish off three A1s with a best of 28.59 for the 480 metres.
Kennelmate Its Mine (Godsend-Aquamarine, Jun 13) has arguably done even better. His 2016 began in A7 company and he has won nine from 14 including one A1 victory. But for some reason, he has never really convinced punters with all his victories returning at between 7-2 and 6-1. If you had staked £10 on Its Mine every time he raced this year, you would be £315 in profit.
Fabulous Recruit (Romeo Recruit-Fabulous Adele, Oct 14) looks well named after qualifying straight into A2. Dave Firmager’s British bred coloured bitch actually led up on debut but was found out by a lack of experience and eventually finished fourth. (*Ballymac Edition is the only 2015 whelp currently on the racing strength)
