Perry-barr-bannerPerry Barr was able to share some good news this week on the subject of prize money.

Racing manager Martin Seal said: “Following BAGS’ decision to release the first tranche of streaming monies to participating tracks, we are now in a position to increase prize money across the board.

“As the monies earned have come from the streaming of all grades of racing to firms’ clients, after careful consideration, we feel the fairest way to distribute these monies is to increase prize money for every greyhound that runs in a graded race at Perry Barr by £4.

“This doesn’t sound a lot, but as a track, prize money levels are set to benefit to the tune of approx. £60,000 over the next 12 months. The increase has been backdated to the start of June.”

Warrington based Louise Eccles has the largest kennel strength at the Barr, numbering around 40, and a fair proportion of that comprises pups from her two home bred litters. All carry the Marshbrook prefix, with Floyd, Ivy and Holly from the Slip The Lark x Marys Glory Dec 14 litter having graded. Floyd and Ivy are already off the mark.

A Fear Haribo x Maids Baby Jan 15 litter has seen Max, Madam and Major reach the track, with Max the clear star of the show having won 3 from his first 4, including the final of an A8 kennel sweepstake. Dam Maids Baby is regally bred, being a daughter of Kildallon Maid and half sister to Fear Emoski, Samiya and the great Ballydoyle Honey.

John Lambe’s kennel is going well at present and Charity Buster did Perry Barr proud when bringing the house down to land the William Hill Derby Plate Final with a barnstorming finish. Buster next appears at Sheffield on Tuesday evening.

Lambe also has a talented bitch pup called Princess In Rags. Owned by long standing kennel stalwarts Ron Chadwick and Bob Shannon, she’s a November 14 whelp by Razldazl George out of Spicy Lass. Princess has both early pace and stamina, and hopefully will be able to play a part in this year’s BAGS Track Championship.
