Greyhound racing supporters in Sunday’s Prudential Ride London fund raiser successfully completed the course with the Retired Greyhound Trust expecting a significant windfall.
Oragniser Mark Burridge said: “Whilst the final figures are still coming through I believe we will have raised around £ 14,500- £15,000 PLUS Gift Aid, so hopefully about £17,000 profit for GT after kit & entry payments. It is not my decision, of course, though I hope we can establish this as an annual fundraiser, with peleton teams the best way to go as you have more people involved and at various abilities.
“It was great to see journalists Tony Bullen, (whose partner Emma King was competing), ‘Hobbsy’ and family, and supporters from Romford & at the finish. Already there’s talk of an RPGTV peleton team for next year.
“What can we say about Mr. Millward? As Tony Bullen aptly put it, ‘He was telling everyone he was A8 when he was really A4’’ Paul covered the final leg with consummate ease, even making a sneaky dash for The Mall finish with a breakaway sprint at Wimbledon Common!!
“Can I just thank everyone who supported us to get to a figure that exceeds our target. Everyone GT cyclist had a great day and came home safe and sound.”
