The bookies are struggling to find a favourite in tonight’s final of the Coral Romford Puppy Cup over 400 metres at the Essex venue.

You can get 11-4 Droopys Carat, who set he standard in last week’s semi-finals when he rode an early bump to lead from the opening turn to beat Blue Tick George by four lengths in 23.82sec.

Angela Harrison’s runner has won three of his last four races at the London Road track and will be looking to secure an early lead.

Badminton Donal can be backed at 3-1 after reaching the final unbeaten in the event.  Kevin Hutton’s dog set the standard in the opening round when scoring in 23.71sec but was made to work harder for victory in the semi-finals when overhauling Young Princess at the third turn to score in 24.35sec.

Make No Apologie is the other big player as far as the bookmakers are concerned at 100-30.  Heather Dimmock’s runner beat Droopys Carat in the opening round in 23.96sec and last week got the better of a battle with Bit View Rambo by a length in 24.28sec.

In contrast to the front three in the better Blue Tick George is all about staying power and is a 9-2 shot.

Jim Daly’s runner came from last to first in the heats to score in 24.11sec and last week made eye-catching progress after trouble to get within four lengths of Droopys Carat.

The two outsiders Young Princess and Bit View Rambo represent local kennels.

Young Princess, a 14-1 shot trained by Paul Young, is all about early pace.  She won in the opening round in 24.24sec and made Badminton Donal pull out all the stops last week.

Maxine Locke’s Bit View Rambo is the most experienced runner in the final.  He’s not usually the fastest to the turn but must have a chance as the only wide seed in the contest.
