Ballinakil Clare, beaten favourite in the Puppy Oaks Final after landing her qualifiers in 28.06, 28.11 and GAIN May 2015 generic28.23, bounced back to form to clock the fastest time in the first round of the Sporting Press Irish Oaks. The Graham Holland trained bitch led all the way to beat Leezie Lindsay by more than four lengths in 28.13.

Other points of note, kennelmate and defending champ Ballydoyle Honey ran a very respectable second place – beaten just over a length by Faypoint Lisa in 28.62 – as she tries to capture her best form after a seasonal break.

Puppy Oaks runner-up Holycross Leah stamped the quality of the form when clocking the second fastest time of the night – 28.27.
