The semi finals of the Islandbridge Open 350 take place at Shelbourne Park tonight with a fascinating clash between two of the fastest sprinters around set to take place at 857pm. Just 7 spots separated the Keeley McGee trained Gizmo Cash and Pat Buckley’s Flashing Willow as the pair ran out comfortable winners of their first round heats in 1859 and 1865 respectively. It promises to be one of the races of the night but Willow is fancied to just about get the upper hand as the line draws near.
The second semi final at 912pm is a very competitive affair with at least half the field able to lay serious claims to taking the spoils. Robert Gleeson’s Corbrack Prince finished second behind Flashing Willow last week and though he’ll find this a little easier he’s still got plenty to beat with both Michael O’Donovan’s 1875 first round winner Echo Zulu and Keeley McGees Hawkfield Ava likely to present stern challenges.
Declan McDonagh’s Hanover Phantom is fancied to follow up last week’s stunning heat win in The RCETS A1 / A2 575 at 942pm. A fair break and he should once again make full use of one of the longest run’s to the turn around to get himself around in front and once there he will take a lot of beating.
