Romford dominated the week’s open racing with Bockos Jon Jo rightly claiming the plaudits. But instead the nomination goes to Belinda Green’s Frainey Forever. The fawn’s 13.28 is the fastest time since Kenton Ten’s 13.27 last January and completed an 1,889-1 five timer.

Acomb Hugo was the Kinsley nomination last week. This week we are talking about litter brother Acomb Winston following his fastest run in the first round of the British Breeders Stakes at Nottingham. Meanwhile last week’s Nottingham selection, Roxholme Sheikh, was equally as impressive at Perry Barr on Thursday night. This week’s Kinsely nomination goes to A2 winner Leinster Flare.

Sticking with the opens, Jimmy Fenwick’s Lightfoot Gigi was the quickest of the youngsters on display in Newcastle’s Wednesday night Northern Puppy Derby trialstakes. Meanwhile at Yarmouth, Gigi’s paternal half brother Roxys Teddy clocked the second fastest four bender of the year to date. Harlow’s Indian Trump went one better with the quickest ‘415’ staged in 2021.

Hove’s top four bend performance was a close one with two A1 winners each clocking 29.58 (-10). The experienced Rafiki Kaa just missed out to puppy Pocket Lola. Sheffield runs around 40 spots quicker for the same distance and this week one hound broke 29.00, the A1 winner Woodcocks Romeo. Towcester’s fastest 500 was a 29.80 for A3 winner Distant Paddy.

Crayford staged A1, S1 and H1 races on Saturday, but the outstanding run of the week came on Tuesday from Pennys Bobby with a 23.16 run in A3. He does have a history of giving the grader the run around – he once did 23.06 in A4!

The outstanding run of the week at Monmore came over the short six bend trip with Headford Diva. The A1 runner made her staying debut and did it in style on a track rated -40.

The top staying performance of the week though surely belonged to Blue Tick George with a three length defeat of Southfield Code in a flying 40.03 (-55). Also on Sunday an 11th win in 15 outings for locally trained Westway Blake at Swindon.

The 450 and 483 runners have tended to dominate at Doncaster in recent months, but Drumleen Jenny gets the nod for the sprinters after clocking the best 275m clock since last August.

There has been nothing showing Pennylane Class’s 27.34 form this week at Sunderland. Best of the rest was A2 winner Willowbrook Fiddler. Henlow only staged one A1 in the last week, and it was won in an ‘A1 class winning time’ by the hat-trick winning ex-Peterborough hound Nuts Corner.

We don’t like sharing the selection but it was impossible to split the Pelaw pair Madabout David and Glengiblin Kenny.
