The BGBF/Nottingham British Breeders Stakes Final takes place this evening and what a final it is.  British Breeding and the events surrounding it have really taken off again recently and this is yet another high class final.

The formidable KSS Syndicate, sweeping all almost all, before them in British Breeding events in recent years are yet again the team to beat this evening.

Doubly represented by King Sheeran and King Turbo, they hold every chance of once more emerging victorious.  That’s not to say that it’s a done deal however, Sharpys Rocket, Westcot Norman , Down To The Felt and Romeo Rumble are sure to have their say.

Nothing but a performance right out of the top drawer will do for any of tonight’s finalists if they wish to lift the trophy aloft at shortly after the 906pm off time.

From a selection point of view the pin falls on King Sheeran for the McNair team. He’s been imperious throughout the competition so far. A wide margin and ultra impressive winner of both his heat and semi final, he looks the one to beat despite a far from ideal draw in trap 5.

This wide running son of  Eden The Kid and Skate On, whelped in February 2017 , suffered a serious and potentially career ending injury in this very same event last year.

It took many months of patience, love , care and dedication from Liz , Rab and all of the team to see this British Bred superstar not only recover to race once more , but to show a level of form that renders him a danger to any greyhound in the UK and beyond.

His pace is unquestionable and despite having the wide running Down To The Felt drawn to his immediate inside he can trap best and make all.  King Turbo who could potentially be running the final race of a remarkable career here at Nottingham this evening has nothing to prov. He is a superstar of the very highest order and nobody would begrudge this greyhound going out of the sport accompanied by yet another trophy.

Sharpys Rocket for Sheffield handler John Sharp stays extremely well but would need thing to get messy upfront for him to come through. Similar comments apply to Westcot Norman for trainer Jonathan Blencowe , indeed this could potentially be the final runner for Jonathan as a trainer , citing difficulties in attracting owners since the Towcester closure . What a way to bow out.

Down To The Felt, trained fantastically by Heather Dimmock and Mick Pacy has all of the ability in the world and has been a mainstay of British Bred racing for sometime now. He is not ideally drawn but it would be no shock if he were to land the spoils.

Romeo Rumble for John Mullins is no makeweight despite his likely SP. On all known form, he will need some scrimmaging upfront but there isn’t a better man in the land than Mullins for prepping a dog for the big night.

It promises to be an excellent evenings racing at Nottingam and if you’re not at the track all of the action including the final at 9.06pm can be caught live on Racing Post TV channel 431.

Betting: 11-10 King Sheeran, 5-2 King Turbo, 5-1 Down To The Felt, 12-1 Romeo Rumble, 20-1 Sharpys Rocket, 40-1 Westcot Norman
