Bockos Doomie will go into next Saturday’s Coral Olympic Final with a win record of 71%. His Hove record is 14:14.
The big white was the fastest of the three semi final winners and has drawn the blue jacket for the decider.
Trainer Patrick Janssens said: “The dog is just a born winner. He went through the Sussex Puppy Trophy, a dual distance race, and the Sussex Cup all unbeaten. He just loves Hove. You can be a specialist at some tracks because the top dogs never go there. You certainly can’t say that about Hove; every competition there features the creme de la creme.
“I would say Nottingham is probably the only track that he doesn’t really run well, but even then I thought he was unlucky in the Derby. I thought he and Deerjet Sysdney were the tightest railers in the event and he as eliminated when he was checked at the third bend and came off lame. That isn’t an excuse, it is just what happened.”
Janssens will be triply represented in the final with Lenson Whelan and Seaglass Tiger wearing the white and black jackets respectively.
Janssens added: “What can you say about Whelan? A Derby semi finalist, runner-up in the Steel City Cup and Kent Derby, a finalist in the Yarmouth Derby? He has been magnificent. Or Seaglass Tiger who came back from a broken hock to reach the Monmore Gold Cup Final and now this?
“Of the three, I think Doomie has the best draw. Whelan will go in a straight line to the bend, Tiger would be better off close to the rail. The six is a young improving dog, but has some time to find on the clock.”
Latest betting: 1-2 Bockos Doomie, 11-2 Newinn Jacko, 6-1 Darth Vader, 13-2 Darbys Ranger, 10-1 Lenson Whelan, 33-1 Seaglass Tiger
