Swift Curie is 25-1 for the William Hill St Leger after winning the Pinpoint Yorkshire St Leger over 661 metres at Doncaster.

Russ Warren’s runner capitalised from the absence of Millwards Teddy when flashing out of the traps and making all the running to beat a staying on Romany Rouge by just over three lengths in 41.23sec.

Warren said afterwards: “Doncaster is only half an hour away and she’s not the best traveller in the world so this race was ideal.

“She had a great make-up as the only railer in the race and it is unfortunate that Millwards Teddy didn’t run but the bitch ran a cracker.

“We’ll think about the St Leger at Wimbledon but it’s a long way from Sheffield for a bitch that is not keen on going too far.”

Indalo Flame was a surprise 12-1 winner of the Windsor Food Services Sprint over 275 metres.

Kevin Berwick’s runner was led for most of the way by Unique Wishes but got up in the shadow of the post to score by half a length in 17.00sec.

Assistant trainer Bruno Berwick said afterwards: “It’s great to win two races in a week (Salad Dodger won at Nottingham on Monday).

“This dog was a one-time Towcester sprint record holder and we knew he was capable of a performance like this.”

Pinpoint Razl (10-11f) was an easy winner of the Windsor Food Services Invitation Stakes over 450 metres.

Kelly Macari’s runner led from the opening turn and came home just over four lengths clear of Decoy Savings in 27.50sec, which set a new track record.

Macari said afterwards: “We haven’t had her long and she’s been progressing well. We may think about the Angel of the North during the Newcastle Festival for her.”

Tootoottootsie outstayed her opponents to land the Pinpoint Ladies Stakes over 483 metres.

Paul Prior’s 3-1 shot reeled in long-time leader Satin Jess to score by three quarters in 29.42sec.

“She didn’t get the breaks in the Yorkshire St Leger but it is great to win this. She loves a long-run to the corner and this track and trip is ideal.”

Liosgarbh Charl was the best backed winner of the night in the Windsor food Services Stayers stakes over 661 metres.

Gary Carmichael’s runner, backed from evens to 4-6, was soon clear and went on to hold a staying on Gleneagle Tina by just over a length in 41.56sec.

Gary said afterwards: “It’s a bit of consolation tonight for getting knocked out of the St Leger after running well in the first round.

“We’ll take him to Newcastle for the Stayers competition during the Festival.”

Southern Mesut ran his rivals ragged in the Pinpoint Stakes over 450 metres.

Charlie Lister’s veteran was soon clear and went on to beat Silvio Scolari by six and a half lengths in 27.59sec

Ian Sutherland, assistant trainer said: “He’s never been here before so we’re very pleased. He’ll go back to Henlow to defend his Derby title there.”

Roxholme Magic was a facile winner of the Andrew Walker Marathon over 877 metres.

Hayley Keightley’s runner pulled clear on the second lap and went on to beat Market Heights by 14 lengths in a new track record time of 55.69sec.

Mark Keightley said afterwards: “She was sensational tonight and loves tracks with long straights.

“There is a possibility that something can be set up to get the TV Trophy winner Ballymac Bonnie and Magic together in a series of races shortly.”

Barnish Panther broke his open race duck in the Bramble Kennels Stakes over 480 metres.

John Mullins’ runner swooped late to deny Farran Sexton by a length in 29.66sec.

“Mullins said: “He’s been a length off the track record in trials at Sittingbourne but has been frustrating. He’ll go for a hurdle race at Crayford on Saturday.”

RED MILLS
