Perry Barr stage the first three trialstakes for the William Hill St.Leger on Saturday with Rubys Rascal, Geelo Monty and the 2015 winner Fizzypop Buddy.
Racing manager Martin Seal said: “I have advertised trial stakes over the 710m race distance the next two Saturdays, 7th and 14th October, and these will be duplicated where necessary to accommodate as many entries as possible. These trial stakes pay £200 to the winner & £40 others.
“Limited trial spaces are available before racing on Saturday evenings, as well as after our BAGS meetings on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Solo trials are not available on Saturdays, due to time and space restrictions, but are available after the above BAGS meetings. I should advise that there will not be any trials staged after racing on Wednesday 11th October due to the Brummies’ season ending speedway fixture that evening.
“The event proper kicks off on the afternoon of Sunday 22nd October as part of our BAGS meeting, with entries closing at noon on Tuesday 17th October. The second round is on Saturday 28th October, the semi finals on Saturday 4th November, with the Final the centrepiece of a gala card on Wednesday 8th November in front of the Sky cameras.
“In previous years, the St Leger has had an entry fee of £50 per greyhound, but after due consideration and in view of the current challenging climate, we have decided to dispense with this in 2017 as a gesture of goodwill.”
