Perry Barr will be reintroducing Friday night open races from the first week of May on a fortnightly basis.

March and April has seen progeny sired by the late Sawpit Sensation, owned and trained by Dave Hunt, make their graded debuts at Perry Barr. Their dam is the former Charlie Lister trained Bandicoot Frisky, who landed the Caffreys National Oaks at Nottingham in 2010. The Hunt trained Sawpit Successor obliged in A5 grade at the second time of asking and Slinky Topsun, under the stewardship of James Danahar, made a winning debut in A8 grade. The whole litter have shown signs of ability, including good middle pace, very similar to their father.

The litter have clocked highly promising solo efforts over the 480m trip with Alfie Not To Far (29.33), Alfies Quality (29.37), Alfie On You Go (29.58) and Alfies Prince (29.63) standing out. Droopys Alfie was a legend around the Midlands, and won a stack of opens at Coventry, Perry Barr and Nottingham. Dam Geneva Socks was no mug either winning her fair share of races, including several opens.
