Barrie Draper handed out a reminder – if one was necessary – that his team is in fine form for Sheffield’s big meeting on Wednesday in which he runs Ballymac Mossjoe in the feature event, the Betfred Steel City Cup, with a four-timer at Owlerton on Friday night.

Glassmoss Bolt, an October 2013 son of Lenson Bolt and Black Reason, made his debut in an A2 contest and held on well for a neck success in 29.32 for the 500 metres, while there was a second win from three starts for Hollys Fantasy, a February 2014 youngster out of Farlow Holly by Premier Fantasy, who showed that the is progressing along the right lines with a clear-cut victory in a D3 in 16.57 for the 280 metres.
It was an excellent night for owner-trainer Ron Grey at Pelaw Grange on Friday when he saw a couple of his home-breds make winning debuts.

Steve Anderson has an interesting litter of pups coming through at Newcastle at present. Out of Anderson’s former racer Millstreet Belle by Ballymac Bull, two of the April 14 youngsters – Bramble Boo and Bramble Keegan – both have winning form and they were joined on Thursday by Bramble Robson, who clocked a highly promising 28.89 for the 480 metres as he won a P2 at the third attempt.
