Pat Buckley had a 1-2 in the final of the Gain Dog Food Irish Cesarewitch over 600 yards at Mullingar but not in the order most people expected.
His defending champion Paradise Maverik went to traps a 1-2 favourite for the race after winning seven consecutive races at the Midlands venue, including his three preliminary races this year.
However it was his kennelmate Droopys Acrobat, an unconsidered 12-1 chance and the youngest in the final, who upset the party by making his best start of the competiton and going around the first turn in front.
Paradise Maverik turned in second place a couple of lengths adrift but try as he did he could not reel in the leader who went on to score by a length and a half in 33.31sec, his best return in the event.
The victory earned his owner John Procter the €9,200 first prize.
