Droopys Trapeze set a new track record in the semi-finals of the Betfred Gymcrack over 462 metres at Kinsley on Sunday afternoon.

Jimmy Wright’s Newcastle raider blasted clear from traps clocking an electric 5.04sec split time.  The son of Tullymurry Act went on to beat local 16-1 shot Riverside Escape by almost four lengths in 27.02sec.

The time took a length off the 2012 track record held by Jaytee Youngy.

Holdem Rio was almost as impressive when taking the third qualifier.

Carol Weatherall’s runner, who won a Puppy Final at Towcester last month, also bombed out of the traps and clocked a 5.08sec split.

The son of Crash went on to beat Seamus Cahill’s Live Annie by just over two lengths in 27.14sec.

Banner Lightfoot was another runner to get to the final unbeaten when landing the second qualifier.

Charlie Lister’s runner just made the first turn in front and went on to beat a staying on Lowgate Hagrid by four and a half lengths in 27.50sec.
