Lenson Royale, who is top of the Springbok standings, was surprisingly beaten in the top division of a William Hill Sponsored Trial Stakes over 480 metres hurdles at Wimbledon on Saturday.

Ricky Holloway’s runner, a 4-7 chance, was involved in serious trouble at the opening turn which allowed Reculver Ozzie to lead off the second turn and hold the renewed effort of the favourite by a length in 29.77sec.

Jason Foster’s Sparta Impact was another surprise winner of the second division when he led off the third flight to beat Yassoo Blue by half a length in 29.98sec.

Seamus Cahill’s Du Cane Road landed a scrappy third division by leading close home to score in 30.72sec.
