The GBGB Board have today agreed that a process for selecting the English Greyhound Derby will commence within the next couple of weeks. The process will follow a similar format to last year’s application, namely an initial expression of interest, followed by a more detailed business plan, together with securement of sponsorship. Deciding who will subsequently host the Derby will rest with a convened Stakeholder Panel. It is expected that the decision as to who will host the Derby for 2020 will be announced before the end of September.

Managing Director of the GBGB Mark Bird said, “The format for selecting the host of the 2020 English Greyhound Derby will largely remain the same as last year’s process. The Board will however be interested as to whether tracks would potentially be bidding to hold this premier greyhound sporting event for beyond one year, as the Board and the wider greyhound racing community really want to see the Derby homed on a more permanent basis.”
