Calzaghe Clampet came from off the pace in heat two to deny Ballybough Mondo by a length in 28.76sec.

Skip Glory made every metre in heat three to score a three and a half length victory over Black Tom in 28.75sec.

Glenanore Ace was never headed in heat four when beating Father Ned by five lengths in 29.10sec.

Phillip Gough’s Go Dex Go was soon clear in heat six to score a three length victory over Friendofcrocket in 28.77sec. Quickest first round winner Ballybough Mike was third.

Trinity Forest was a trap to line winner of heat seven when coming home a length and a half clear of Country Legend in 28.66sec.

Jimmy Buckley’s Jumeirah Mikey was foot-perfect in the last qualifier where he came home a length and a half clear of Kevin Patrick in 28.91sec.
