Coolavanny Shado will go to traps as the 2-9 favourite with the sponsors for next Wednesday’s Bresbet 76th East Anglian Derby Final with more than eight lengths in hand after the semi finals.

Patrick Janssens’ expensive Irish purchase clocked 27.33 on normal going, a time bettered only once last year, the 27.24 (+40) by eventual competition winner Antigua Storm in semi finals.

They bet: 2-9 Coolavanny Shado, 5-1 Hopes Paddington, 9-1 Carols Legacy, 11-1 Gracias Lorenzo, 18-1 Drahan Jet, 40-1 Maxi Twister

There is less than five lengths between the two Greene King IPA sprint finalists with Mark Newberry’s locally trained A2 winner Getouttamyway marinally the fastest qualifer. Last year’s beaten favourite Shrewd Call made it safetly through his qualifier with his 2021 conqueror Ballymac Slapup eliminated.

Blue Tick Jenny was one spot off the fastest time of the year when landing the quickest of the Derby Purse qualifiers, despite leaving several lengths on the track. She has drawn red in the final which looks far from ideal.
