Yarmouth are planning to top up their racing strength with a greyhound sale on Thursday June 30.
Assistant racing manager Ben Mannall said: “We like to have 300 dogs available and its dipped to about 280. It is about 20 years since we last held a sale here and there will be 30-35 dogs from South Eastern Sales. We hope to have catalogues available at roughly two weeks before the event.”
East Anglian Derby winner Doit For Twiggy returned to grading action on Wednesday when polishing off an A1 event in 27.53 (N). Erica Samuels’ locally bred black started at 10-11f and beat Ascot Woodie by three and a half lengths. On calculated times, the run was only one spot off Triggy’s personal best for course and distance.
Ben Mannall said: “Twiggy’s connections were looking for a run and we wanted to find a race for Ascot Woodie who graded-in in 27.60 (+40). It became a bit watered down with some of the intended runners engaged at Henlow on Sunday with Droopys Scion getting through to a final at Romford. It was still a very good race though.”
Yarmouth are planning to re-introduce midweek opens from Thursday July 20. Depending on the level and quality of entries, they will continue all the way through to the new BAGS fixtures in the autumn and act as sighters for the East Anglain Derby in September.
