Yarmouth Racing Manager Marcus Westgate has delayed the draw for the RPGTV 73rd East Anglian Derby after the event was oversubscribed by almost a third.
The Caister track received 63 entries for the 48 runner event which is due to get underway next Monday.
Westgate said: “I have spent all afternoon going through the entries trying to decide who to leave out. As always, there are top class dogs with poor recent form and improving young dogs who might be doing times but are yet to prove themselves in better class company.
“In an attempt to nullify a lot of upset, we have spoken to a number of the trainers and asked them to nominate their runners in order of preference. In almost all examples, I have tried to support their choices.
“But I want one final check with a clear head on Wednesday morning before we submit the final 48 to GBGB for the draw.”
