Jimmy Wright enjoyed a very profitable night at Newcastle on Saturday when he landed the finals of the two £1,000-to-the-winner graded competitions sponsored by Pin Point Recruitment writes John Forbes.
Shaneboy Katie, who had been given an eleven-metre mark in the 640 handicap, was a shock 14-1 winner of her heat last week for her owner-trainer and she caught everyone out again in the final holding on to record a half-length success over her kennelmate Kilara Roz (rec 4), who had started favourite, in a calculated 40.35.
But seventeen minutes later Wright’s Magical Reid, owned by the Conlon Family, helped repair some of the damage done to favourite backers’ pockets when drove home for the line after taking a third-bend lead in the 480 final, the 7-4 market leader crossing four and a half lengths clear of Ghetto Empire in 28.50 on going estimated 20 spots fast.
