Jimmy Wright took the honours at Sheffield on Sunday when the Newcastle trainer made the journey back to the North East with four winners in the back of the van.
Droopys Five justified favouritism in the final of the puppy competition, the dog cashing in on a flying start that took him clear of the trouble in his wake to score a six and three quarter-length win in 28.93 for the 500 metres and that was followed by successes for Droopys Alesssio (16.09) in the final of the 280-metre sprint, the returning Walshes Hill in 16.05 in another two-bend open, and Shellam Dellano, who clocked 39.20 for the 660 metres in a maiden stayers’ contest.
The card also featured the final of the Sheffield Stadium Ladies, which went to Roswell lo Jo in 28.65 for the 500 metres, and the decider of a standard competition, won by Satin Mark in 28.68.
