As anticipated, Wimbledon have dropped to an eight-race card on Friday night to enable them to accommodate their first 12-race BAGS fixture on Saturday. The Friday meeting includes two A1 events, though one is for five runners.
The Saturday card includes a low quality 273m sprint open (there were eight advertised), though perhaps significantly, five of the runners are locally handled. There are a cross section of graded races, all over the standard including an A1. First race is 6.28pm.
Assistant racing manager Owen Winkley said: “We were a bit unlucky in terms of lots of other events being due to start and we spoke to quite a few trainers who said they couldn’t justify turning up with one dog. I think the most entries we received for any open other than the sprint was probably three.”
