Wimbledon is to raise prizemoney for graded runners in an effort to increase its kennel strength for its forthcoming BAGS contract starting in June.
Winners in the top grades on the flat or over jumps over any distance will see an increase of £25 for each race. This means an A1 will now pay £125. There have been no graded hurdle or stayers races this year.
Those that succeed in any of A2 / A3 / S2 and S3 races will receive an extra £15 with all other winners getting an additional tenner.
Appearance money across the board will go up by £5.
General manager Keith Hallinan says: “The track is doing quite well, especially in the restaurant and it was time to reward owners and trainers for their efforts.”
He went on to say that any trainer wanting to join the track should contact the racing office.
