Clarissa Baldwin CBE, Chairman of the influential Greyhound Forum has spoken out in support of the new GBGB crackdown on trainers who routinely euthanase greyhounds at the end of their racing careers.
She said: “GBGB’s declaration to cease the unnecessary destruction of greyhounds is to be applauded. The methodology of how this is to be achieved will be of interest. Welfare charities remain willing to assist further.
“This important point is just one of the laudable 8 point Commitment that the Industry has made. If the full extent of the Commitment is to be achieved, GBGB will need a large injection of cash. It is time the Bookmakers, who are currently not paying into the voluntary levy, dig into their very deep pockets and helped achieve 100% welfare for the greyhounds.”
