Joe’s Wednesday Tips

***7.22 Yarmouth – Fatboyz Harvey (3pts) 10/3
**8.54 Romford – Blooming Wild (2pts) 7/2
*7.33 Perry Barr – Final Cahir (1pt) 7/2

Fifteen points profit on Tuesday sets us up nicely for this evening with three more graded tips across three cards at Yarmouth, Romford and Perry Barr.

Best Bet

The Nap of the evening is at Yarmouth in the A1 at 7.22pm. Trap five Fatboyz Harvey has been competing with a better calibre of greyhound than he finds himself in with this evening. A 29.29 victory at Towcester in open race company was followed up with a creditable third behind Long Fellow at Oxford. Returning to his home track in a winnable A1 should bring out the best in him.

He will have no issues clearing Garnacanty Girl on his outside. If he can keep tabs on Decoy Lulu around the first and second bend, he should have too much for that rival. From there, he can put the race to bed heading for home with the strong stayers in traps three and six rattling home.

Next Best

The next best of the evening runs at Romford in the A2 at 8.54pm. Trap three Blooming Wild has been competing with the likes of Piemans Angel who she beat prior to defeats behind the likes of Droopys Saoirse, Breaghmore Paudy and Romeo Showtime.

Ballyhoo Charlie in trap two should give the selection plenty of room by leaning towards the rail so if Blooming Wild traps on terms, she should have the early pace to lead into the bend. From there, she can get back to winning ways after some fine performances in defeat.

Final selection

The third bet of the evening runs in the 480m handicap at Perry Barr at 7.33pm. Trap four Final Cahir has been tried over the 660m trip recently where he was three parts of a length behind Lasso The Moon on their recent outing when third and forth to Shortwood Cloud.

Final Cahir gets a two metre start on Lasso The Moon this evening with Cross Keys Hawk off the back, a further three metres back. If Final Cahir can hold Lasso The Moon to the second bend he is strong enough to close in on the three in front of him who all start off seven metres so, only two metres ahead of the selection.

BGBF Sprint Final

The Category Two is the feature at Harlow tonight over 238m.

Nathan Hunt’s Teaboy Brownie is the only unbeaten finalist and looks set to be sent off as the favourite. His 15.13 semi-final success sets the clear standard in this contest. His biggest danger could be his litter brother Pro Parker for Michelle Brown. He was three-quarters of a length down when squeezed up at the opening bend last week when being his brother.

Romeo Showtime was the winner of the other semi-final for David Verner. The sole puppy in the contest, he produced a 15.38 to win last week, just picking up Hunt’s Zebedee Cluasa late on. The two remaining finalists are Jobberruda for Maurice Rice, a half-brother to some hound named Bockos Diamond, and Front River for Kevin Proctor.

Towcester next up for Gone To The Dogs – Live!

£40,000 in winners prize money up for grabs at Towcester’s Christmas Bonanza meeting!

It’s free general admission for the evening, with what should be a very strong card. A string of £3,000 one-off contests should attract some of the top dogs in the country to the track for a meeting that hopefully will enjoy a great festive atmosphere.

Shelbourne Winter Racing Festival

Just a week and a half until Shelbourne has another exceptional Saturday card.

The Winter Racing Festival is over two days, starting on Friday, December 6. The qualifying races for the sweepstakes with the finals on the opening night are this weekend at the track.

Saturday is the big day will five €5,000 one-off races and six €10,000 one-off contests. It is a quick turnaround after the Boylesports Irish Derby this year but there should be plenty of top quality action on the night.

Australian tracks to trial kennelling change

Dubbo and Temora will run a two month trial through December and January.

During that time the kennels will be open from 75 minutes prior to the first race until just 30 minutes until the first. We will await their findings with interest. Floyd wrote an excellent column back in September about the issues with kennelling.
