Premier Greyhound Racing Champion Stakes

Just two days until the 575m Category One runs the semi-finals.

18 dogs remain ahead of Friday, with the middle of the semis the one that naturally catches the eye first. New Destiny is the hot favourite for the competition but she has to clear Birmingham Cup finalist Aayamza Sydney on her inside on the run to the bend. That is a contest not to be missed!

Don’t forget, we will be there for the final on October 18 with the second broadcast of Gone To The Dogs – Live!

The ante-post prices are also available ahead of the semi-final stages.

Joe’s Wednesday Tips

***9.23 Yarmouth – You Two (9/4)
**8.54 Romford – Knocknarea Tip (4/1)
*7.22 Yarmouth – Rathcoole Rebel (6/1)

A frustrating Tuesday at Central Park with a second, third and fourth from three selections sees us head into Wednesday looking to bounce back.

The nap of the evening runs in the last race at Yarmouth at 9.23pm. Trap six You Two drops back into A1 company having been competing in top class opens recently. Those include the first round of the Champion Stakes at Romford and a short head second in the Derby Purse final at Yarmouth over 659m. The drop back in trip shouldn’t be an issue to him with no rival in trap five. He should get a solo and if coming away I would fancy him to lead his main rival Droopys Halley. If getting first run, he can prove too strong for the field and pick up a second A1 success on his third appearance in the grade.

We head to Romford for the next best at 8.54pm. Knocknarea is yet to get competitive since returning to racing following a lay off. He showed signs of improvement last week before having his back legs taken from him at the third bend. If he traps on terms he should lead the field comfortably. From there, if managing to hold onto his lead from the second bend, he can assert to have the race sewn up heading for home off the last bend and return to winning ways.

The value bet for the evening is Rathcoole Rebel in the A2 at Yarmouth at 7.22pm. Running from trap two, Rathcoole Rebel can clear Easy Arrow on his inside with a decent exit and the strong runner can get first attempt at likely leader Only The Third who looks the main danger to Rathcoole Rebel. If Rathcoole Rebel can turn close enough I would fancy him to catch Only The Third late on. Garnacanty Girl will be flying home but finds herself detached early so I am hoping that works in favour of trap two.
