Joe’s Yarmouth Tips

*** 6.48 Yarmouth – Ballymac Zoomey
** 7.06 Yarmouth – Millbank Boiler
*8.13 Yarmouth – Littlers Nuke

We are set for a terrific night of action at Yarmouth’s showpiece event of the year. East Anglian Derby final night!!!

Brilliant prize money on offer with £1000 to each winner of the one off opens, £1500 for the sprint final, £2000 for the Derby Purse and £15000 to the winner of the 78th running of the main event.

Also a welcomed initiative kindly sponsored by Time Greyhound Nutrition, £50 cash to the kennelhand of the best turned out greyhound in each race so we thank Time for their generous sponsorship.

Wednesday’s Nap

My Nap of the evening is going to be one for the locals to cheer home. Ballymac Zoomey runs from trap four in The Coolavanny Shado @ Stud Ladies Standard Division One at 6.48 over 462m and looks set to dominate proceedings. Aces To Open in trap three will be moving left early on so as long as Ballymac Zoomey comes away she should lead and win. She regularly posts sub 27.80 times when doing it right in top grade and open races so i’m expecting another classy performance from her.

Today’s Next Best

The next best on the card comes in the next race. Millbank Boiler lines up from trap one in the Stadium Bookmakers East Anglian Derby Standard Division Two at 7.06. He is a different dog when drawn red and a smart exit from the inside should see him lead and if leading he should win. Bombay The Joker and Beaming Panther are the main dangers to Millbank Boiler but if Millbank Boiler traps he’s got smart early pace and the draw inside can help his cause.

Value Bet

The third best bet of the evening is going to be trap one Littlers Nuke in the MWD Partnership Derby Purse Final at 8.13. He was an impressive winner of his semi-final last week from trap three. I’m hoping he traps in similar fashion from the red box and if getting first run on Breton Molly he should see her off. You Two can set the pace early but if Littlers Nuke can turn second to six he should be too strong for that rival.

Memphis back in action this weekend

The Derby finalist has his first race since Towcester on Saturday evening at Central Park.

Liz McNair’s charge has three wins in four starts so far in his career at the track. His only defeat came at the paws of Queen Joni in the final of the Kent Plate at the end of March. He will have his litter mate to keep him honest around his outside, the winner of a trial stake in a solid 28.96 last week. Memphis has 28.93 and 28.95 on his card so it should be an cracking contest.

Tornillo’s tasty Towcester trial

Dave Lee’s dog lit up the Northamptonshire track in a pre racing trial.

The Oxford 450m track record holder produced a smart 15.67 yesterday. The March 22 whelp has not been seen in race action since he was behind Aero Sacundai in a Pall Mall semi-final in July. He had won a 500m contest at the same track in March when clocking 29.10.

Romeo To Victory retired

Tom Heilbron’s sprinter has run his last race.

Sadly the son of Magical Bale finished lame at Sheffield on Sunday. The winner of 16 open races at Sheffield, Newcastle, Romford and Crayford, he was a finalist in the Guys & Dolls at the last named in mid-August.

His final win was at Romford on September 6, stopping the clock in 13.28. That is the second quickest time of 2024 at the track, a position he also holds at Sheffield with a 15.74 on February 11.

He will be back at Owlerton as part of the trophy presentation for the competition final that is named in his honour on September 29. We spoke to his part owner Kaitlin Petch.

“Reggie has been such a pleasure and such an exciting dog to have had part in and parade.  From his countless wins at Sheffield and featuring in the team for Judgement Night and running against some of the fastest dogs in the country at many tracks.

“I never thought I’d experience having a dog like him let alone being able to work with him everyday. He is my best friend and my superstar and after the joy he’s fetched in and outside of the kennels, a nice retirement in my home is only the start of what he deserves. Plenty of treats, belly rubs and a whole lot of love to give.”
