East Anglian Derby semi-final tips

***8.13 Yarmouth – Littlers Nuke
**8.31 Yarmouth – Breton Molly
*8.47 Yarmouth – Swift Depot

A frustrating evening on Tuesday saw us put up a 4/1 winner at Central Park followed by two defeats for the nap and next best.

We head to Yarmouth this evening for the semi-finals of the Click Competitions 78th East Anglian Derby with three fantastic races on display.

Semi-final one at 8.47 sees a mixture of early pacers and strong runners. Bramble Linton and Bombay The Joker will be looking to dominate early with the likes of Wrighty and Swift Depot hoping to stay on for a qualification spot in next week’s final. I am going to be with Swift Depot who has a good make up out wide in trap six. Bramble Linton should set the pace and I am hoping for ante post followers that he can lead and qualify after we put him up at 50/1. So it’s Swift Depot for me to catch Bramble Linton in semi-final one.

9.04 is the second semi-final and sees ante post market leader Druids Say Go line up from trap one and she takes all the beating here. She was impressive last week winning in 27.55 and a repeat exit should see her go onto dominate from the front. Millbank Boiler is badly drawn in trap four and will be darting left early on so Gary The Arb needs to be lively from trap three and although Millbank Boiler is a big hazard, I still believe Gary The Arb can qualify in behind Druids Say Go.

Semi-final three at 9.23 is a wide open contest where it is hard to rule any of the six out of qualifying. I am going to side with Getup Me Son who went to the bend well with Druids Say Go last week before finishing third. I am hoping he can trap well here to lead and if doing so, can go on to win from there. Ballymac John will be the other qualifier in my opinion. He was desperately unlucky not to turn in front last week and ran well to qualify so I’ll be with him to make it through to next weeks decider.

The Yarmouth undercard

There are two other competitions on the card both sponsored by MWD Partnership.

The first competition is a three heat sprint where Not So Slow should win the first heat at 7.06, Slick Serenity takes all the beating in heat two at 7.22 and Jura Go Bucko can continue his fantastic winning sequence by taking heat three at 7.39.

The MWD Partnership Derby Purse is another three heat affair where Mad For Sterling who should go close to winning the competition outright can land heat one at 7.56, Littlers Nuke who was desperately unlucky in the opening round of the St Leger at Perry Barr last weekend can win heat two at 8.13 and Breton Molly can use the inside draw to her advantage to take heat three at 8.31.

David Mullins has three chances at five in a row

The Coral Romford Puppy Cup starts on Friday evening with six excellent heats.

Tenpin, Brookside Ritchie, Romeo Hotshot and Romeo Crusade are the four who have won the competition from 2020-2023 for Mullins. Piemans Angel, Romeo Showtime and Lindas Yes Baby will represent the kennel this year.

The current ante-post favourite is Matt Dartnall’s Fire And Ice after his flying 23.64 (+10) last week. Untold Rufiyaa for Tom Heilbron and Kim Billingham’s Newinn Souly are join second favourites but both are in the same heat. The only other runner at single figure odds is Easy Player who represents Craig Morris.

Dani and Joe are talking to David Mullins this week ahead of the competition. Keep an eye out for that one and if you missed yesterday’s podcast, click on the Gone To The Dogs link ahead of Yarmouth tonight.
