Gonna be a great Plate!
If Saturday’s trialstakes are anything to go on, it promises to be a great ARC Kent Plate.

The highlight is a clash between 16/1 English Derby favourite King Memphis and last year’s Kent Derby winner Churchfield Syd. The pair are joined by the fastest hound over course and distance this year Droopys Reserve, the exciting youngster Newinn Deejay and last year’s finalist Clairekeith Remy.

The KSS Syndicate are out in force with King Capaldi and sister Queen Joni (taking on Coolio Gold). Sprinter of the Year Quarteira makes an appearance alongside Golden Jacket finalist Coonough Crow.

Wimbledon dogs – an oral history

The 23 interviews that form the Wimbledon Greyhound Racing oral history project are now available to be heard

Organiser Jonathan Buckley said: “These are extremely interesting and important historical records and really capture what the stadium was and what it meant to people as well as placing the sport in historical context. All of these interviews will be going to Merton Archives, Bishopsgate Institute and also Wimbledon in Sporting History and preserved and shared with generations to come who want to hear about the stadium and the sport. All of the interviews are also available to listen to now on the project website here” https://goingtothedogs.org.uk/interviews.html

“Capturing and sharing this history is the primary purpose of the project so do please have a listen and let others know they are here as they are brilliant! A secondary aim of the project is to somehow edit these 23 hours of amazing material into a short documentary film and we’re hard at that now.”
A preview of the documentary will be shown prior to the unveiling of the Mick The Miller mosaic. Now located at the ARC ground, it actually belongs to Roger Cearns whose family built and owned the greyhound/speedway/stock car stadium before it was bought out by GRA.
Roger said: “The mosaic was originally given to me by Clive Feltham before the greyhound track closed down. I attempted to have it removed but it was impractical to do so in the time frame.”
