Punters were given a golden opportunity to compare Chelsea Glass Trainers Championship runners ‘like for like’ when seven members of the Wallis team and four runners from Seamus Cahill’s range trialled at Sittingbourne on Thursday night.
The only sprint trial saw Towcester specialist Cloudbursting (Wallis) record a comparatively disappointing 16.41 (265m). (Target Harris clocked 16.13 on Sunday)
Evanta Evita (Wallis) and Hoof It Katie are due to meet in Wednesday’s ‘480 bitch’ division and recorded 29.09 and 29.67 respectively.
Adageo Bob (Wallis) and Droopys Jarrow (Cahill) are due to contest the ‘500m standard’. Bob, beaten a short head by Evanta Evita recorded a calculated 29.10 for the 480m; Jarrow had beaten Katie by more than six lengths in 29.17.
Cahill would have been delighted when one of his ‘aces’ Southfield Jock (500m Puppy) clocked 29.13.
Wallis’ entry for the same event, Swift Whirlwind, was beaten just under three lengths by Billys Bullet (642 stayers) and clocked a very decent 29.12
Blonde Nipper (Wallis) and Racing Post Juvenile winner Ballymac Brogan (Cahill) are due to meet in the night’s prestige event – the ‘Standard 1’ and recorded 28.95 and 28.73 respectively.
Wallis also trialled former Towcester 480m track record breaker Blue Moment against the current record holder Domino Storm. He had elected to give the ‘Standard 2’ place in his team to Blue Moment, but saw Storm beat her kennelmate by a length in 28.98.
