Ballymac Vickson was a surprise 5-1 winner of the William Hill Win and You’re In English Derby Trial Stake over 480 metres at Perry Barr.
Barrie Draper’s runner was soon clear of his rivals, while many of his rivals found trouble on the opening turn.
The son of Ballymac Vic went on to beat Carla Hendry’s Terminal Three by just over five lengths in a slick 28.33sec.
Connections will now be setting their sights on Wimbledon for the Derby which starts on later next month.
