Droopys Verve is the sponsor’s biggest liability for the Star Sports English Greyhound Derby Final.
A biggest single bet was £80,000-£5,000 makes the majority of the ‘field book market’ – ie the maximum liability of the six finalists and not including profits on the beaten runners.
Dorotas Vic, who was backed at 66-1 would set them back £45K, Bruisers Bullet would cost £40K and Dorotas Wildcat, a mere £3K, (though still being heavily backed).
Bombers Bullet and Whoops Jack would net profits of £7,000 and £9,000 respectively.
The layers have already done nicely from the ‘winning trainer’ market where Pat Buckley was heavily laid at 10-1.
There are expected to be a string of specialist and speciality bets following the trap draw which takes at the Derby lunch in London tomorrow.
Current betting: 6-4 Droopys Verve, 2-1 Dorotas Wildcat, 4-1 Bruisers Bullet, 6-1 Whoops Jack, 8-1 Bombers Bullet, 25-1 Dorotas Vic
